Managing a ski tournament for up to ten teams and hundreds of racers is a huge job requiring many volunteers. Most come from family and friends of the ski team, but all community volunteers are welcome. If you would be interested give us a call.
We had a great day for our fall membership meeting. About 25 people joined us at Hidden Valley for a pot luck lunch, and for the meeting where we inducted new members to the Board. Most of the folks stayed for the afternoon and helped clear brush and trees from our trails and do other volunteer work as needed. Thanks to everyone who joined us. Counting the days until snow.
Our ski trails will be closed to the public starting at 5:00 P.M. Thursday, January 28, 2016 through Friday at 5:00 P.M. This will allow the pursuit race managers to complete grooming of the race courses and marking of the routes for both skate and classic races. We ask that the public come and enjoy watching the races but stay off all the trails at Hidden Valley to ensure the racers have a successful day. Thanks, everyone. See you on race day.
Check out the updated race schedule in the ski team menu on this site. The first race of the year was originally scheduled to be held at Mt. Itasca back on December 12, but that had to be postponed due to lack of snow and high temps. That race will now be held Tuesday, December 22 starting at 11:00 A.M. Best wishes and good luck to all our skiers.
Congratulations and thanks all around for all the volunteer help running a great tournament. We had lots of good feedback about our beautiflly groomed trails and finest chalet on the ski circuit. Folks from all over Section 7 really enjoy coming to Ely for these events. Out skiers looked great at all levels. Off we go into the new season.
